Boston Manor are an English band from Blackpool formed in 2013.The band released their album ‘Be Nothing’ on 30th September 2016. Boston Manor have toured and played shows with the likes of Moose Blood, Creeper, Citizen, Me Vs Hero and As It Is and are set to become one of the stand-out gems in the UK’s burgeoning rock scene. They have also announced their first full European headline tour, which will be taking place in November and December and this is our interview with Ash, the guitarist!
Hello! It’s a pleasure to interview you. First of all, if you had to introduce Boston Manor, how would you describe it?
Ash: Nihilistic Rock Music, haha
How did you meet?
Ash: We all knew of each other & used to play in bands in our local scene. We somehow ended up coming together one day and it was really out of the blue. We honestly wouldn’t change it for the world.
“Be Nothing” is your new album. Can you tell us about the creative process behind it?
Ash: We spent a long time writing this album. We kept writing full songs and then ended up reworking them over and over until we were all super happy with them. We wanted to make sure every aspect of the record had been thought about, right down to the album art & the inserts.
We know the story behind “Lead Feet”, so what’s can you tell about the other singles?
Ash: I think people should make their own minds up about what the songs mean to them. If they can connect to them in their own way, and with their own experiences, then that’s way more important than any reason we could tell you.
What’s your favourite song of the album at the moment?
Ash: I really like Fossa, i think it’s a little darker in feel & pulls away from the pop punk genre we often get pigeonholed into.
What is the best thing about being on tour?
Ash: I love having the opportunity to visit places i probably wouldn’t ever go. If i wasn’t in a band I wouldn’t be going to half the places I am today.
Will you play in Italy?
Ash: We’ve played Modena earlier this year with Knuckle Puck and it was sick. We really want to play come back soon, it’s a beautiful place and the hospitality is great.
