Sofi Bonde Interview
Hi Sofi! It’s a pleasure to interview you. First of all, let’s talk about your new single “On Fire”: how was born this song?
Thank you so much! This song was written during the pandemic. I wanted to make something uplifting. The past year has been hard for many.
This song talks also about being free to be yourself and you’re a strong woman with her own freedom: how did you reach what you have today?
Well that is so kind of you to say and I appreciate that. I feel like I have so much left to accomplish though. I think that you get from one place to another by first realizing where you want to go and then you take steps in that direction. Somehow things fall into place. Just stick with it and do’t give up. Some things goes really quick and some take time.
You’re not new in the music industry. You played in Europe and also in the States. What’s the difference between the european audience and the american audience?
Oh I don’t know. The audience is pretty similar in Europe and in the US. It’s really a wonderful thing to play and sing on stage and off stage too!
In your biography we can read that the period you lived in the US was not so happy and easy. Why?
Maybe I am just that kind of a person. But of course it’s not easy being a sensitive person in a cut throat business. You get one yes out of a hundred.
If you can turn back time you would change something in your life or your choices?
I would say no. The contrasts in life are important. So the wrong turns I took were probably nessecary. You need them as much as the wins in life. They form you. But I feel like I’m done with them now! Haha! No more contrasts please!
Our magazine is women team based and deals closely about the relationship between women and work, especially in the music. In Italy we have still a lot of problems about that. Women are still left behind. What is the situation in Sweden? And what are the hardest difficulties for the women who works in the music industry, in your opinion?
I didn’t know that! How wonderful that this is a team with women only. I think the music industry is still male based but it’s slowly changing. I think sweden is doing pretty well when it comes to this. More and more women are in charge.
Your career is long and various: is there still a dream that you want to realize?
I have so many dreams. If I could say one then it is to have at least one billboard top ten song!
Last question: if you have to describe your music with the name of a drink, what would it be and why?
That’s a question I’ve never had before. A glass of champagne, it’s old school but still classic today!
